Product update : Categories on BondScanner

The problem with browsing bonds the old way

When you open a bond platform and see a long list of bonds, it can feel overwhelming. Dozens of options. Different issuers, tenures, credit ratings, and yield numbers. For most investors, the first question is simple: where do I even start?

The old way of browsing meant scrolling through everything, reading each bond one by one, and hoping the right one would show up somewhere on the list. Some investors wanted AAA rated bonds. Others wanted monthly payouts for regular income. Some wanted something accessible at Rs. 10,000. But there was no quick way to get to what mattered to them specifically.

That friction is what we set out to fix.

Introducing bond categories on BondScanner

Bond Categories is now live on BondScanner. It organises bonds into groups based on the things investors actually look for, so you spend less time searching and more time on the bonds that are relevant to you.

Instead of scrolling through everything, you start with what matters to you.

  • New on BondScanner - freshly listed bonds added to the platform

  • AAA / AA Rated Bonds - bonds from issuers with the highest credit ratings

  • 10k or Lower - bonds with a minimum investment starting at Rs. 10,000

  • High Yielding (12%+) - bonds offering returns of 12 percent and above

  • Maturing in 2027 - bonds coming to maturity in the near term

  • Monthly Payouts - bonds that pay interest every month

  • 3 to 6 Month Tenure - short duration bonds

Each category is a shortcut to a set of bonds that match a specific investment preference.

A closer look at each category

New on BondScanner shows bonds that have been recently listed on the platform. If you check BondScanner regularly, this is the fastest way to see what has been added since your last visit.

AAA / AA Rated Bonds surfaces bonds that have received the top two credit rating grades. Credit ratings are assigned by agencies like CRISIL and ICRA and reflect the issuer's ability to meet its financial obligations.

10k or Lower filters for bonds where the minimum investment amount is Rs. 10,000 or less. These are bonds where you can get started without committing a large amount upfront.

High Yielding (12%+) shows bonds offering an annual yield of 12 percent or more. Higher yield bonds typically carry a different risk profile, so reading the bond details before investing is always worth doing.

Maturing in 2027 pulls together bonds that will complete their tenure in 2027. This is useful if you have a specific time horizon or are planning around a financial goal in the near term.

Monthly Payouts lists bonds that distribute interest to investors every month instead of quarterly or at maturity. This suits investors who prefer a regular, predictable income from their bond holdings.

3 to 6 Month Tenure covers bonds with a short lifespan. If you do not want to stay invested for years, these bonds give you a defined end date within a few months.

How to use categories on BondScanner

Open the BondScanner app and go to the Explore section. The categories appear at the top of the screen. Tap any one and the bond list updates instantly to show only the bonds in that category.

From there, you can read the details of each bond, check the yield and rating, and invest directly. No settings to configure, no filters to set up manually. Just tap the category that matches what you are looking for.

Built directly from your feedback

This feature came from conversations BondScanner has been having with its users for a while.

"Can you show me only the new bonds or the ones most people are buying?"

Priya, BondScanner user

That question is exactly what Categories is designed to address. Not just for Priya, but for every investor who has opened BondScanner and not known where to start.

The product keeps evolving based on what users tell us. If you have something you would like to see on BondScanner, write to us at support@bondscanner.com.

Your next bond is one tap away

Browsing bonds just got a lot more focused. Seven categories, each one built around a specific way investors think about their fixed income investments.

Open BondScanner, head to Explore, and see what Categories surfaces for you.
