Incorporated in 1977, LMEL is a Maharashtra-based integrated metal and mining company and India's largest private merchant miner of iron ore by current production run rate. It operates the Surjagarh iron ore mine in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, with environmental clearance capacity of 55 MTPA. The company also operates DRI plants (340,000 TPA capacity), a 34 MW captive waste heat recovery power plant, an 85 km slurry pipeline (Hedri to Konsari), and a 4 MTPA pellet plant at Konsari. It holds JORC-compliant iron ore reserves of 863 million tonnes and is transitioning into a fully integrated steel producer with a ₹32,700 Cr capex rollout through FY2029.
