Incorporated on February 24, 1961 (originally as A.P. Mining Corporation Limited), APMDC is a 100% state-owned Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The corporation acts as a nodal agency for the exploration, commercial exploitation, processing, and marketing of mineral resources in the state. APMDC is renowned globally as the largest producer and supplier of barytes since 1975, operating the Mangampet deposit and contributing to nearly 90-95% of India's total baryte production. In addition to barytes, bauxite, limestone, granite, and iron ore, the company has recently diversified into coal mining, commencing commercial production at the Suliyari coal block in Madhya Pradesh in 2022. It is also actively planning to expand into minor minerals and beach sand minerals over the coming years.
